He heard her when she claimed not to be hungry but he didn't believe her. Her bones nearly showed beneath her skin and often times, Jason swore he could hear her deprived stomach calling out to be fed. she could deny it all she wanted but Jason knew she wasn't eating. Maybe not fully, but somewhere in the back of his mind he knew and he wanted to change that.
"Doesn't matter. You need to eat. I'm not taking you home until you do." he said, he voice a little harder than its normal, nervous tone. It wasn't that Jason minded keeping Selena around him, He didn't, but he cared enough about her not to let her go home with a level head. From the corner of his cobalt eye, he saw her bite her lip as she closed her phone. Probably an angry text from her parents, wondering where she is. he thought hoped.
Jason cut the engine and unbuckled his seat belt, getting out of the car and going around to Selena's side. He opened to door for her and waited for her to exit the vehicle. jason's midnight rescuer outfit

Doctors visits were hell. My god. Selena had to spend at least an hour getting ready for them. She rarely went to them since her dad didn't give a fuck about her. She went when she had to and for school stuff. Selena always wore four, five, six layers of clothes to the point that she would feel like she's dying of heat, and she would eat a lot to boost her weight and drink so much water that she felt like she was going to explode. Of course, other things came with doctors visits, she would often take small weights and put them in her pockets. As well as putting some in her bra. A few times she even got away with wearing ankle weights. It was hell to be in but whatever.
Hearing his words, Selena sighed. "I don't need to eat," Selena insisted "I'm fine" The girl claimed. She didn't see herself as skinny. Everyone looked smaller then her. She didn't understand. Watching him get out of the car and open the door she decided that maybe if she went inside and got coffee or something he would back off. Taking off her seat belt, she got out and felt dizzy. For a second she thought she might fall

As they entered the restaurant, a blast of warm smells hit Jason in the face. He welcomed the smells though. they were warm and comforting and nice. Though, he was almost positive most of them were meats. He chuckled lightly and walked to a booth, sliding in one side so Selena could crawl in across from him. their waitress was by shortly after that, a short woman with a gray mess of hair piled on top of her head in a bun and wrinkles in her skin around her mouth, like she had once spent a great deal of time smiling and laughing.
Jason liked her already, though he knew nothing about her other than her name, Janet. She spoke quickly with an accent that was predictable yet, still caught Jason off guard. "Anything I can get for ya sweet pea?" she asked, her southern charm showing through. She wasn't flirting but she was just generally nice.
"Some coffee would be great to start with, please." Jason said, offering her a smile. She jotted it down and turned to Selena.

Selena followed him a few steps behind him silently, tired and dizzy. Feeling the warm smell, Selena ignored it thinking don't eat. try not to eat. be strong... It was meat anyhow. Selena didn't eat meat unless she had to. Sitting across from Jason, she crossed her very thin legs and watched as an elder lady walked over and Selena offered her a small smile. "Coffee.". Her voice was very flat since she was in a horrible mood.
She looked at Jason. She wanted to hug and thank him and tell him how wonderful he was but at the same time she wanted to walk out and forget her needs. She wanted to go to a world where they didn't exist.

The waitress quickly jotted down her coffee as well and turned off to fetch the drinks for them. Jason gazed at Selena, slowly reaching for his menu to eat. He knew she was being stubborn but he still was certain that she wasn't going to leave here without eating something. He opened his menu and looked past the plastic covering the different items of food they carried. One in particular caught his eye. Baked Potato soup. It sounded delicious, and he could ask for the bacon bits to be not put in.
Jason set his menu down and looked to Selena once again, who seemed to have not touched her menu. "That baked potato soup sounds really good, Selena. Wanna share a bowl?" he asked, trying to get her interested in at least something to eat. He hated seeing how frail she was. He thought about it every time he was near her, how thin and weary she looked. She couldn't have been eating. He knew about high metabolisms but this was beyond that, wasn't it? But how could someone assume that.
Jason sighed, brushing the thoughts from his mind. It wasn't right for him to be getting that involved with his students anyhow,. jason's midnight rescuer outfit

Selena needed something to focus on, she stared behind Jason in a gaze that made her still, and still very dead looking. Hearing him speak, she glanced at him for a second and heard his words. "Okay." Was all she replied. Selena ran her hand through her dark hair and glance around for a minute, hoping she could find something to focus on long enough for her to figure out a way to get out of eating. Damn it. This was hard. He was determined to make her eat. Selena hated him for it, but she knew he cared. But jeez.
At one part, the fear of calories and food is sheer ignorance, on the other hand it is an actual fear. It seems to be a very big fear or else she wouldn't take it to this level. The truth was, Selena did eat. She just ate zero calorie foods, fruits, and drank coffee and water on most days. The majority of her calories came from drinking. Which was horrid but true.

Jason smiled a bit at her response, though he knew that there was nothing behind her words. She was distant, staring off at something behind him and never fully meeting his gaze. It was frustrating at worst but his frustration was cancelled out by worry and concern. That girl was barely living, and he could tell.
When the waitress came back with their drinks, Jason thanked her kindly, preparing his coffee.
"Now, how about something to eat? Y'all look flat hungry! Especially you, little miss." she said, as politely as possible. Jason was already pulling away from it though, trying to make it seem as though their waitress hadn't added that last part in. He was sure that it took a toll on Selena's self esteem.
"We would like the biggest bowl of potato soup you can make, if you don't mind." Jason said, seeming up at her. She grinned back and jotted down the order.
"I'll get right on that." she said before leaving them once again. Jason resumed preparing his coffee just the way he liked it --two creams and a sugar-- and then went back to Selena.
He sighed. "You know, you gotta talk to me sometime about what happened out there." he said, finally. jason's midnight rescuer outfit

Selena watched as the waitress came back, Selena took her coffee with both hands, careful. Her hands didn't grip well anymore. It's not the fact that Selena was seriously deathly skinny its just that Selena's body was so damn sick. She stood at 5'0 and 95 pounds. Her body was just fucked. Hearing her words, Selena glanced up at the waitress, hating her instantly. Hearing the lady's words, Selena hated her even more. "I'm not that hungry." She said to the lady, looking at her coffee. Her words sounded harsh, irritated, like someone who had been roughed up by life. Selena heard Jason's request and didn't say anything. Watching the waitress walk away by the side of her eye, Selena smiled slightly. She was gone.
Glancing up at Jason, she saw him putting cream and sugar in the coffee, Selena picked up the coffee with both hands and sipped it. Selena liked her coffee black. The stronger the better, it seemed to be with her. Hearing his comment, Selena looked up at him, meeting the eyecontact. Selena looked small but like she was going to just snap at you, screaming as she went. Selena looked almost evil, but she was almost pleasant to talk to if you backed off of a lot of subjects. "Well, what do you want to know about it?" She asked, taking another sip.

Before he was able to respond, Jason was interrupted by the waitress who brought over a steaming bowl of coup and some crackers to go along with it. She smiled her sticky sweet smile and told the to enjoy before disappearing again. Jason didn't drop the subject though.
"What were you doing out there alone? Weren't your parents going to be worried about you?" he asked, knowing how worried he had been as nothing more than a teacher. He couldn't get the image out of his head. Tiny Selena standing there and taking the abuse she was being handed by a big brute she didn't even know. All Jason could think of was how if they had taken her down... she might have been broken in two pieces.
He would have felt so guilty.
But Jason shook the thoughts from his head, trying to focus on the here and now. He eyed the soup's creamy texture and admired it for a moment. He wanted a bite but had decided that he would make her eat first, or go without eating altogether and pay for a meal untouched. jason's midnight rescuer outfit

Selena watched as the waitress brought of the soup. Selena watched as the lady walked away, watching her for several moments then turning to Jason at the time he started asking questions. Selena paused once more and took another sip of her black, strong coffee. Part of Selena wanted to laugh at the parents worried part but she kept a normal face. Another part of the comment made Selena want to cry and make her parents go away. Selena wanted to curl into a ball and hide, Selena wanted to never be seen by another human being again.
"I was walking home."Selena told him, then pausing. She didn't say where she was coming from or where she was going but, at least, she answered. Taking another sip from her coffee, as selena set down the pale green cup she shrugged and responded "Probably not.". It was pretty honest at least. Looking around, "They knew I would be out and about." Selena looked at the soup, knowing that she can't eat it. "You go first." Selena said, with a small smile, a smile that wasn't almost a smile. It was nearly a smirk a 'go-ahead-try-me-smirk'.

Jason frowned at her statement. If she were his daughter, she wouldn't have been allowed out that late alone. He would have made sure she was safe. Again, he eyed the soup and then looked back to Selena. She suggested that he go first but he wasn't going to back down that easily.
"I wish I would have given you my number before. You should have called me. You could have been in a lot of trouble back there!" he raised his voice slightly, but stopped himself from going any further. He looked away, sitting back in his seat.
"I'm not eating until you do first." he finished, an unusual bitterness melting into his voice. He couldn't explain why he was angry, not allowed, but he was. He was angry for not knowing that she was out alone, angry that he was so bothered, angry that he was bothered by being bothered and angry that she wasn't more carefully but nothing made him more angry than the thought that her parents probably didn't know she was out and they probably didn't care. jason's midnight rescuer outfit

Selena sighed "Honestly, I probably would have just left and not called anyone if I got out of that alone, unless they killed me or something." Selena said sipping her coffee. She mentioned her murder all too casually, all to relaxed about it. "Anything else you would like to know?" She asked, then added "By the way, you had no reason to give me your number before. Plus, I don't think I can just pull my phone out and cal someone in front of those guys." Selena said, picking up her coffee and sipping it 'I see them around...a lot actually." She confessed. Hearing his comment she took a small bite of the soup then leaned back. "There.". Selena was silently freaking out.

He groaned inwardly, knowing he had messed up. He wasn't hungry anymore but she needed to eat. and that small bite --if it could even have been considered a bite-- was not going to work. "I never had a reason to give you my number before because I didn't know that you had parents that let you roam the streets of New York City at night!" he was frustrated, but took a deep breath and tried to keep his cool. "I just wished you would have put up some fight with those guys, Selena. It's like you wanted them to kill you or..." he gulped, trying to prepare to use the word he had been replacing with 'something' all night.
He looked up at her, meeting her eyes. "rape you." he finally finished. A sigh escaped him. "go ahead and have some more, I need to go to the restroom." jason's midnight rescuer outfit

Selena smiled slightly at his minor freak out about her roaming the streets of the city at night and her parents. "I see." She said then sipped her coffee again. "It's not that they let me, it's that I just did it with out telling them." Selena shrugged. 'I'm sure they know, though." Selena sipped her coffee again. It was pretty honest once again, her parents didn't care what she did for the most part.
Trying not to roll her eyes in amusement Selena said 'You know. You would think that you'd be more nervous of saying killed then raped." Selena said, putting her hair up in a lose bun since her very black hair was bothering her. "Oh! And yes. What would you like me to do next time I'm encountered with six foot guys?" Selena asked and raised an eyebrow in more of a sarcastic way. Hearing his bathroom thing, Selena nodded "Okay.".

In the bathroom, Jason splashed water on his face. As much as he wanted to believe all that Selena was telling him, he couldn't and he felt terrible for it. Terrible for involving himself where he wasn't particularly wanted or needed. Grasping the sink with both hands, he stared at himself in the mirror. Beads of water dripped from his tanned skin, glistening as they hit the sink silently. He tried to concentrate on not prying into her life like he had been moments ago, but it was hard. She was such a mystery to him and after seeing that IM conversation he and Adam were having, he knew she probably didn't trust him.
At least he felt settled enough knowing that he hadn't been talking badly about her or any of the others, aside from maybe Ryan but that one didn't really count in Jason's book. After a moment of deep thinking though, Jason turned around and dried his face with a napkin, exiting the bathroom to rejoin Selena and their food.
He sat down, awkwardly and looked across the table to her. He knew she hadn't touched the food but he didn't really feel that it was his job to make her do something she obviously didn't want to. He looked to her, his blue eyes reflecting the apology he couldn't say at the moment, and hoped she understood.
"Let's get you home." he said, quietly. jason's midnight rescuer outfit
